Art Transfer Major

Program Description: Art classes at Iowa Central Community College are designed to provide a complete curriculum for art majors planning to transfer into a four-year art program, as well as exploratory courses designed for the non-art major. To succeed in art, students needs an active imagination, a curious mind and perseverance to acquire skills relevant to the design process. A student may begin an art major or minor at Iowa Central Community College. Students planning to major in art should enroll in a variety of courses offered at Iowa Central. Students are welcome to take arts classes for general enrichment and to meet the college Humanities requirement.

The Art Department provides a problem solving structure in which students can explore ideas, enhance visual perception and develop creative thinking skills. Student will acquire basic visual vocabulary, an understanding of the "story" of art and an appreciation of the contribution of artists to the fabric of society.
