How
Can I Qualify?
To be eligible for SSS services, you must be at least a half-time
student at ICCC (or applied for enrollment) and be a citizen or
legal resident of the United States. You may be eligible of you
can anlser "yes" to any of the following statements:
- Neither
of my parents graduated from a four-year institution
- I
am eligible for financial aid
- I
am a student with a disability
- I
plan to complete a two-year degree and/or transfer
How
can I become a Participant?
Call Student Support Services at 515-576-0099 ext 2280 or stop by
the SSS area in the Administration Building at ICCC's Fort Dodge
campus. One of the staff members will be glad to discuss the program
with you.
What
else does SSS offer?
Academic
/Career Advising
Academic
advising is available to SSS students who would like help in determining
short-term and long-term goals. Referrals to community agencies
are offered to those students whose educational goals are hampered
by personal/family porblems. Career advising, exploration and information
are also a part of the comprehensive SSS services.
Financial
Aid Assistance
Sufficient financial aid packages are crucial to students. SSS participants
are advised of the variousl types of financial aid available and
the methods needed to obtain that aid. Assistance is provided to
participants who apply for financial aid.
Seminars/Workshops
Throughout the year, SSS offers seminars, workshops and conferences.
Topics vary each semester and are based on the requests and needs
of the SSS students.
Cultural/Social
Activities
SSS members are encouraged to participate in the cultural/social
activities sponsored by SSS and ICCC. These activities may include
educational field trips to museums and exhibits, concerts, sporting
events, etc.
