What
to Bring/What Not to Bring
Facilities and Services
Beds, window blinds, mattresses,
study desks, and closet and drawer facilities are provided for
residents. Students are responsible for cleaning their own apartment.
What
to Bring
Living with others in a limited space means that not all of your
belongings should make the trip. Some of the basics that shouldn’t
be forgotten and that most students bring when they begin college
include:
-
Appropriate clothing – remember, this is Iowa. The weather
ranges from warm and sunny at the beginning of the fall semester
to cold, and perhaps snowy, by the end. Bring an umbrella or
raincoat for spring and fall rain, and boots, hat and gloves
for winter snow.
-
For
the laundry – laundry bag or basket, detergent and fabric
softener, hangers, an iron and mini-ironing board, needles,
thread, and scissors.
-
For
your desk – pens, pencils, pencil sharpener, paper, stapler,
ruler, scissors, typewriter or personal computer, calculator,
calendar, dictionary, notebooks, binders, stationery, desk lamp.
-
For
your room – alarm clock, radio, toaster, television, headphones
(if you bring a stereo), vacuum cleaner, salt and pepper shakers,
dishes, glasses, mugs, silverware, dishwashing liquid, small
microwave oven, popcorn popper, hot pot, and floor fan.
-
For
your bed – sheets (extra long twin), pillowcases, pillow,
blankets, and bedspread.
